Proverbs 2:10 (Dissected and Defined)
[You will understand righteousness and judgment] When wisdom entereth into thine heart (meditator), and knowledge is pleasant unto thy soul.
Daily Devo Paraphrase: To understand the “Hidden Life” a believer must realize that he has the ability to live the Christian life, but only as he yields to the power of the Holy Spirit. We can do good in our own power (like Mother Teresa and countless others have), but that does not mean we are living the Christ like life. The Christian life is not having my own righteousness (which is by the law), but having the righteousness of Christ (Philippians 2).
To this end, Spirit-led Christians experience two distinct benefits while under His influence: the ability to live a righteous life (understand righteousness) and the ability to discern right and wrong (understand judgment). As Solomon explains, this can take place as wisdom (or, the Holy Spirit) enters your heart or the place of your meditations.
I believe that the word “wisdom” in the Old Testament is manifested in our lives when a believer yields to the Holy Spirit. For whatever the Spirit leads us to do will be a most wise decision.
Thus, I conclude when we allow ourselves to meditate upon the leadings of the Holy Spirit and consider those promptings well, then we will find ourselves living right and making good judgments in life’s decisions.
However, many Christians struggle to “consider” in their heart the Lord’s leading, choosing rather to jump to the conclusions of the mind. This leads to the choosing of their own preferences in the many decisions of life.
This selfish soul is never satisfied. To please your soul you must give your heart’s thoughts to the Lord’s control!
