How to Be Blessed in Christ

“A transformed mind truly understands who we are in Christ; for it dwells on our identity.”

“I woke up this morning feeling fine; I woke up with heaven on my mind…” These are the lyrics to a song I recently heard. It caused me to ponder where my mind doth wander. I cannot tell you that my mind is always on the things of Christ nor does it always revel in the thought of my position IN Him. However, I can say with consistency, my thoughts are more on Christ these days than my thoughts were yesterdays!

How did this transformation happen? Interestingly enough, it did not happen as you might think. There is no glitz and no glamour in becoming like Christ and identifying with Him. The Bible says in Philippians 2:5-8, “Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:”

What an example Christ’s life is for us to follow! It is the life of no reputation, the life of a servant, and the life that submits to a daily dying of self. It is this mind that Christ challenges us to acquire. When we are willing to give up our self-serving reputations and forsake our job-seeking qualifications to take on the role of full-time humiliation in the form of a servant of the Lord, “this mind” will be in us-the same mind that was IN Christ Jesus.

But this form of mediation and cooperation with the Spirit of God is NOT how the natural man thinks, for it goes against our very nature. However, when Christ lives within us, and we allow Him free reign, we begin to think differently. Our mind is transformed!

But wait! Here is the exciting part. When we have this selfless and shameless mind that positions us IN Christ, we will be exalted to provisional prominence. Ephesians 1:3 tells us, “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:” I know I will have these spiritual blessings because I am joint-heirs with Jesus as noted in Romans 8:17, “And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.”

When I consider the privilege of ruling and reigning with Christ, I need to realize I need not sweat the small stuff, but continually meditate…” He is enough!”

Friend, does your identification bring forth a transformation?
